In this three day class we will create SEA JELLIES, WHITE BARKED TREES, and SNOWY EVERGREENS.
Learn how to create your own Batiked images using contemporary techniques guaranteed to enhance your quilting no matter what style you prefer.
This three-day immersion into Contemporary Batiking also includes painting with dyes and ice dyeing. Each participant will design and batik a sea jellie, white barked trees, and snowy evergreens using Procion dyes and batik wax. Designs will be available for all class work. Sample quilts will show the procedure processes, and a daily class syllabus will be available to each participant. Discussions and demos will be held throughout the class on how to create artful, award winning quilts enhanced with batik and applique. We will also focus on several background techniques for landscapes or pictorials.
This hands-on workshop will give you a basic knowledge of contemporary batiking to create your own future projects!
All class materials are included in the class fee. They will include: melting pots, batik wax, Procion dyes, and chemical additives for use in class. Along with ready-to-dye (RTD) fabric, brushes, kiskas, irons, paper, pens, pencils, dyeing bins,and patterns,etc. Come learn this ancient art. You won’t believe how much fun this can be.
